What Is Aetna Medigap?

Aetna Medigap, sometimes called Medicare Supplement, is a private insurance policy that you can add to your existing Original Medicare plan (Parts A and B). Medigap helps pay for some costs not covered by Original Medicare, such as copayments and deductibles.

All you have to pay is a small premium, and there are no network restrictions. You may even be able to add prescription drug coverage to your Medigap plan! To find out more about Aetna Medicare Supplemental plans, talk to a licensed agent today.

What’s the Difference Between Medigap and Medicare Advantage?

Both Medicare Advantage (Part C) and Medicare Supplement (Medigap) help pay for health care costs that aren’t covered by Original Medicare (Parts A and B). However, they each cover different services and health care costs. Depending on where you live, you may add prescription drug coverage (Part D) to your plan, too.

But which plan is
right for me?

Selecting the right plan for you is really just a matter of your needs. Here is a short list of what Aetna Medicare plans may cover, depending on your coverage area:

When Can I Enroll?

If you’re enrolling in Medicare for the first time and you qualify for both Part A and Part B of Medicare, you can enroll in an Aetna Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan during your Initial Enrollment Period. Your Initial Enrollment Period begins three months before the month of your 65th birthday and ends three months after your birth month.

If you’re already on Medicare Parts A and B and want to enroll in a Medigap plan, you can do so during the Annual Enrollment Period, which starts October 15 and ends December 7 every year.

Under some circumstances, you may be able to enroll in an Aetna Medicare Supplement plan during a Special Enrollment Period. For example, if you’ve recently moved or if you’re currently living in a nursing home. Talk to a licensed agent today to see if you’re eligible.
